Reception PE is focused on improving the children’s agility, balance and co-ordination. The children learn different catching and throwing techniques, a range of controlled rolls and jumps, how to use equipment safely and striking and kicking different types of ball. Children’s progress is individually assessed against Early Learning goals. Support is given to those who find expectations challenging whilst more able children have their abilities stretched.


Lower School

Lower School ( years 1, 2 and 3 ) follow a wide and varied curriculum aimed at further developing the basic skills of agility, balance and co-ordination. Teamwork is also a key learning area introducing skills of co-operation, negotiation, sharing and compromise as the children establish their own games and develop tactics for success.


Upper School

Upper School moves more towards skill development. Traditional sports are run through clubs so PE can focus more on the skills required to play a range of sports at an improving standard. Agility, balance and co-ordination remain critical with increasing focus on teamwork and collaboration to develop sequences or to give peer to peer feedback on how to improve further.
