The Curriculum at Hanwell Fields

At our primary school we aim to engage and enthuse our pupils through a rich and varied curriculum, drawing on their interests and the local community to make learning exciting and relevant. We understand the importance of capturing the children's imagination and work hard to maximise learning opportunities through ensuring that our skills-based curriculum is progressive throughout the school to ensure children have to opportunity to master learning in each subject.

Our intent with our foundation subjects (Art & Design, Computing, Geography and History) is that these are delivered through a cross curricular topic learning. Our curriculum is implemented through a progression of knowledge year on year.

At the end of each year, we assess the impact of teaching and learning through our age related expectations (procedural knowledge).

Our vision is that our curriculum equips and enriches each pupil so they are prepared and able to access secondary education in a strong position with powerful knowledge and skills complementing their KS3 learning. We have worked with our feeder secondary to design this progressive curriculum.
