Music Curriculum - Year 2

In Year 2, we move on to simple part singing such as rounds.

We learn more about the importance of listening carefully to the melody of the part of the song we are singing and about staying in time with others. In our composition unit we explore body percussion, using the BBC’s Ten Pieces ‘Connect it’ as our inspiration and we create a whole class composition, using movement, body percussion and vocal sounds. We continue to develop our skills on the glockenspiel, using the Charanga scheme to learn accompaniments and creating our own compositions as a class. We also begin to learn about note values, through our note value family and learn how to read simple rhythms using the Kodaly method.
