At Hanwell Fields, we put our pupils and our community at the heart of all that we do. We believe success comes from the strength of partnerships between pupils, staff and parents and we are committed to preserving and developing these links.

One of only a handful of primary schools to be awarded the gold standard by Investors in People, we are committed to the continuous professional development of all our staff. We believe that every member of the school community should enjoy a love of learning and, as a school, we take pride in supporting our teachers and staff through reflective practice and coaching.

What I love most about my job is that I have a great team of staff who are dedicated learners themselves that have the pupils at the core of what they do. We serve a mixed community, which includes some pockets of real deprivation, but every pupil at Hanwell Fields is given the chance to be themselves, learn and flourish as young people.

I would encourage anyone interested in starting or continuing their careers with us to visit our school and see for themselves what a vibrant, aspirational primary school Hanwell Fields is.

At Hanwell Fields, we pride ourselves on delivering an exciting, stimulating and innovative curriculum that engages and challenges all our pupils – from early years through to Year 6. We aim to inspire all the children in our care to reach their full potential by nurturing a love of learning and accepting no limits to what they can achieve. We want every pupil leaving here to go onto secondary school to feel confident in their ability, ambitious for the future and to have had an excellent introduction to education.

We are driven by high expectations and make it our mission to bring out the ‘best in everyone’ – pupils, staff and the whole school community. Through a combination of high-quality teaching, excellent learning and pastoral care, we help our pupils develop the skills and knowledge to be ‘ready for today and driven by tomorrow’. We endeavour to give each child an enriched and varied school experience, in and outside of the classroom, and encourage them to become active community citizens now and in the future.

We are very fortunate to be situated in Banbury as part of a bustling urban community yet surrounded by the beauty and tranquillity of Oxfordshire. As a larger than average primary school, we are ideally placed to provide more in the way of cross-year activities than smaller schools whilst still giving each child the individual attention and opportunities that they need and deserve. Similarly, as part of a cluster of United Learning schools, staff and pupils alike benefit from meeting and sharing experiences with peers and colleagues across the country through a broad range of group-wide initiatives.

I have been working at Hanwell Fields Community School for 3 months now, having made the decision that it was time for a change after 11 years in my previous job. I definitely made the right decision to move and am really enjoying my new role. I am learning new systems and methods and there is always someone to ask for help. The office is a busy and happy place to work and the atmosphere throughout the school is very positive and friendly, all staff are happy to help and there is a great team spirit.

I have been at Hanwell for 6 years, the school has an incredible sense of team direction to achieve the same vision. It is a creative and innovative school; I love coming to work here

Hanwell is a very supportive environment to work in where there are opportunities for development for all staff. The staff team and pupils are friendly and committed to driving the school forward

We are really lucky at Hanwell Fields because we get to do so many fun things. I really enjoyed making an animation film and starring in our school production on stage.

I love being part of this school because we get to do really cool art lessons and we get to go to the woods too.

The teachers are so kind to us, it is a lovely school to be a part of.

The teachers here are really lovely and make lessons fun, it is a brilliant place to be... and I never want to leave!

The teachers are always positive, they help us every day.

I love being part of Hanwell Fields because people are so friendly here and we always do so many fun things. I mostly enjoy literacy because we read really fun books.

Enrichment is one of my favourite lessons because you get to experience all sorts of cool stuff and work with all different children and teachers.
