Phonics Screening

The phonics screening Check is a test taken individually by all Year 1 children in June. It is a 40 word check and will assess your child’s phonics skills and knowledge.

It will check:

• Your child can blend graphemes
• Decode one syllable and two syllable words
• Read nonsense words
