Working alongside Families
As a setting we use an online ‘Learning Journey’ called Tapestry to capture your child’s learning and some of the exciting experiences they have with us.
We invite you as parents and carers to download the app for the app store and log in to your child’s account! From here you can see photographs and videos of them exploring whilst at school, as well as sharing with us some of the experiences you have shared at home too.
We always love to see some of what families are doing together at home, and the children really appreciate being able to talk about this with their peers and the adults that work with them!

In addition to this, both the Nursery and Reception teams send home a weekly ‘Catch Up’ to families. This provides you with a brief overview of (some) of the learning that has taken place that week! We will share key-themes for the week, what the children have enjoyed most and even suggest some ideas for activities to try at home too! We then welcome you to pop some of these on your child’s Tapestry account for us to see!

The Nursery (Caterpillar) team run their own Facebook page and enjoy sharing learning and key-messages on here! If you’d like to join us or to find out more please search ‘Caterpillars Hanwell Fields’ on Facebook and click ‘Like’!
At three points throughout the year, we welcome parents and carers to come in and meet their child’s teacher for a ‘Pupil Passport’ meeting. At this session, we work together with families to build on your childs passport to success; what do they enjoy? What do they find tricky? What can we all do to support them in their learning? Although these sessions only happen at three points throughout the year, your child’s class teacher and key-people are always happy to spend time with you to talk about any queries or to offer support.
As a setting we have an open-door policy. As the year progresses we encourage children to come into the setting independently, but this does not mean that our doors are closed! If there are key-messages or anything that you feel may affect how your child feels throughout their day with us in school then please do ask to speak to a member of our team at drop-off or pick-up times!
